The Implementation Guide contains information on how to calculate and apply the HSR system graphic to product packaging. It outlines the steps required to determine a Health Star Rating and subsequently assign a rating to a food or beverage. It also provides specific information on:
- Categorising foods and beverages under the HSR system
- Products that are excluded from applying the system
- How points are awarded in the system
- Design elements of the Health Star Rating graphic and how it can be used on product packages

Calculator
The Health Star Rating Calculator determines the star rating of a product. You can either use the Calculator online or download the Calculator as a Microsoft Excel workbook.
The Health Star Rating System Implementation Guide contains information on how to calculate and apply the Health Star Rating system graphic to product packaging. Please read the Implementation Guide before using the Calculator. The Implementation Guide also includes a manual calculator (at Appendix 1), which provides the points tables so users can see how points are awarded.
