The current version of the Implementation Guide (Version 9) was finalised in December 2025. No policy changes to the system have been made compared to Version 8 (previously called the Health Star Rating Calculator and Style Guide), but the document was significantly restructured and refined for clarity and usability purposes.
Calculator
The Health Star Rating Calculator determines the star rating of a product. You can either use the Calculator online or download the Calculator as a Microsoft Excel workbook.
The Health Star Rating System Implementation Guide contains information on how to calculate and apply the Health Star Rating system graphic to product packaging. Please read the Implementation Guide before using the Calculator. The Implementation Guide also includes a manual calculator (at Appendix 1), which provides the points tables so users can see how points are awarded.
